Notebook Computer Bags - netbook, carrying cases

It's not perfect, but it's a very nice protector for a netbook. The Case Logic website has a list of every netbook model that fits inside this sleeve.

I have an Aspire One with the 6 cell battery (there's a wart on the back of the computer where the battery sticks out), and the fit is virtually perfect for this sleeve. Nothing else fits in the main compartment. The padding is very nice, just about right, not too much, not too little. It feels very good in your hand.

There is an ingeneous zippered pocket on the front of this sleeve. There is a slot for devices USB - mostly a USB flash drive, but also some shorter USB wires would fit in here. The Acer A/C adapter fits in the outer pouch, but you end up with a very lumpy sleeve (a pretty big bulge where you slid the adapter.

Of course this has the nasty old vinyl / neoprene odor that goes away after a few days. You'll want to turn this inside out and air it out in a sunny location.

As a sleeve - and it's important you know this is a sleeve, not a PC case - this is a very nice protector. You can very easily toss this in a larger PC bag, or carry on luggage, and have no fear that your computer will get scratched or damaged. It will not hold papers, hard drives, cell phone, etc. Just the computer and a USB key.

My sample is black. The charcoal color with gray accents is very nice looking.

March 6, 2011 update - iPads fit in this sleeve. I've carried my iPad for the past year inside this sleeve. With no cover on the iPad, the device is pretty loose inside. I used a DodoCase and then an InCase book style cover for a while, and they both fit inside this sleeve nice and snug. I'm now using an Amazon Basics silicone case that only covers the back of the iPad. The silicone hangs up on the sleeve material, so it's a bit harder to slide the iPad in and out. But then again, the iPad doesn't shift around inside the sleeve. This combination has been on forty or fifty flights in carry on with me over the past year - not a bit of damage or problem with the iPad. When I pull the iPad out, this sleeve crumples up in the book pocket of the plane seat. Pretty darn nice. Case Logic PLS-9 Ultraportable Netbook Sleeve for 7-Inch to 10-Inch Netbooks (Black)

I like this bag a lot. I got it for my 13'' macbook pro and it fits perfectly. It is more cushiony than other sleeves I looked at and the pocket is a great addition. It stretches to hold funky shaped things like the charger, extension cord for the charger, flash drives, cds, and more. One review I read said that the inside is a furry material... it is more of a foam material that is very soft. It won't scratch at all. This sleeve is a great buy!

I bought this case for my 14" Lenovo ThinkPad with the 9-cell battery. I wanted extra protection for when I'm carrying it around campus in my backpack.

I was pleased to find that this case fits snugly around my extended battery pack with enough room for my power adaptor and USB mouse. The outside pocket is actually a functional size, even taking into account the stretching of the case around a computer. I was also impressed with the padding, which seems denser and higher-quality than other similarly-priced laptop sleeves I have seen at retail stores.

After a lot of comparison shopping, I'm quite satisfied with this product!

This is exactly what I was looking for with the added feature of a zippered pocket. Although this is a 14" sleeve, it's perfect for my 15.4" laptop, which happens to be 14" wide. Many other reviewers seem to think that a laptop sleeve should emulate a case. Not to be confused with a laptop case or bag, a laptop sleeve is just that and is meant to provide added protection when placing the laptop in a bag or container that isn't designed to transport a laptop, such as an attache case.

Thanks to another review, I was able to get a good feel if this sleeve would fit my DELL Mini 10v with a 6 cell (bigger) battery. The sleeve fits and expands just the right amount to accommodate the Mini 10 and its bigger battery. I was worried about the bigger battery and could not find any details (except from one review for this product) that gave any hint if it work fit. Not even DELL could get me that information (which is odd). Amazon does pretty well with this thanks to customer feedback.

I think this is a nicely made sleeve that will do a good job protecting my 10v as I travel now and then. It is cheap in cost and should work for anyone needing to transport a 10v.

For me, the sleeved mini will be put into the extra compartment of a laptop backpack. This compartment does not have padding so the sleeve will do the protection.

For what I bought it for, it gets does exactly what it was purchased to do. I own a Dell M1330, and it fits my laptop like a glove. I don't have the extended battery so I can't speak for how it'd fit (although I suppose since it is elastic it would fit an extended battery), but with the regular battery it fits like it was made for my 13.3" laptop. The additional pockets are a plus, as it'll expand to fit the power plugs for most laptops and even an interior flash drive pocket which i haven't used since flash drives are attached to me key-chain.

The sleeve itself is like a thin layer of memory form like material on the exterior lined with a fabricy (new word) smooth outer coating. Zippers have a rubber grip for easy access. Inside it's lined with a semi-fur like substance that seems to have been sprayed with a anti-scratch type coating which gives it a slight grip to minimize movement.

Personally speaking, i wouldn't recommend any sleeve for distance travels, but for short distances sure. If you plan on being very mobile, a laptop bag is a MUST. I use this in addition to a laptop bag because protecting my investment is a big factor for me. Overall, it does exactly as described and comes highly recommended. - Netbook - Carrying Cases - Case - Notebook Sleeve'

Training Equipment - lap counter, lap count

I've used two other lap counter/timers and the SportCount Chrono 100 is my favorite.

Using a lap counter I am able to forget about how much I've done and just swim. Those sessions when I swim a bit, then check the count and find that I've gone two or three times longer than I thought are a thrill allowed by these devices.

Others have criticized the push button -- that it doesn't always register -- but compared to a different ring-type device I used I find it very good. I can definitely feel the click of the button beneath the flexible plastic cover. Overall, I've had far fewer missed laps with this counter than the other type.

The ring-style counter prohibits the use of swim gloves. I haven't tried using hand paddles, although it might be possible to easil increment the ring counter while wearing them.

I have also used a wrist-watch type counter. Incrementing it requires two hands, definitely a disruption of my turning style.

My only complaint about the SportCount functionality is the lack of a pause function. In the pool three times a week I swim a mile to a mile and a half, with a few rests along the way. Since I can't pause the counter, I have to let it record a "lap" while I rest. Consequently, the total and average summaries are innaccurate. But then, I enter all my splits into a spreadsheet anyway, so I just eliminate the rest laps to get my real data.

With regard to reliability, the SportCount falls in the middle of the spectrum for the devices I've used. My old Speedo ring counter (no longer available as far as I can tell) lasted for several years, but I wasn't swimming as much then. The SportCount seems to be good for less than a year before the batteries run down. The wrist style counter from Zoggs has been a nightmare -- the first two were defective. After a recall and replacement months later I got a working one, but its LCD is starting to fade after only a month. So underwater electronic devices are problematic from the start.

The bottom line: If you're a serious swimmer, in training, or like me just a data geek who wants to see incremental improvement for encouragement, a lap counter is a must. And the SportCount is the best-of-breed from among those I've tried. SportCount Chrono 100

I've been using it for 3 weeks or so. Like the concept: fits easily on index finger with adjustable strap, one click to start timing, two to pause, hold down for a couple of seconds to go into review mode; counts laps, records lap times and cumulative time, fastest lap, slowest lap, average lap time. I find that I have to be very deliberate about clicking the button, because if I don't do it right, the unit doesn't register the click. It's not hard to figure out the mistake(s) when I review the results later, because the bad clicks will have resulted in double the usual lap time for those laps. Convenient for swimming or running laps on a track. Apparently you can't turn it off; it switches itself off after 30 minutes of inactivity.

I purchased this product along with [[Asin: B002S0OBVE H2O Audio Interval 3G Waterproof Headphone System for iPod shuffle 3rd Gen]] and they've made my laps just fly by. I used to get distracted and miss/add laps but now I just pop on a good playlist or podcast and just click away care-free. You'd be surprised how quickly your form improves when you're not swimming to the mantra of "14, 14, 14, 14, 15, 15, 15, 15". I'm swimming further and stronger and enjoying it a whole lot more.

I have used the previous version of SportsCount Chrono 100 (the yellow one with two buttons) and liked it. I was a little dubious about the one button approach, but I love it. The one button approach is actually very intuitive and easy to remember. I wear it on my middle finger on the inside of my palm and it is very easy to click the button with my thumb when I turn. I haven't missed a click yet. And best of all, the battery is replaceable (unlike the previous version)!

Update: July 30, 2010: I bought the Chrono 100 lap counter almost two years ago and use it every single time I swim. If you are like me, it's easy to lose track of how many laps you swam. The Chrono let's me know exactly how many laps. At first I was turned off a little bit by the thickness of the counter, after all it is basically the thickness of your typical digital watch. But I'm completely used to it and find it to be a much better option than anything else I've seen other swimmers use. It's better than a wrist watch because you don't need two hands to use it. I wear the counter on my forefinger and just click the button with my thumb. The button is easy to push as you swim and it has always registers the lap and split time each time I pressed the button. A couple of times I may forget to push the button after completing a lab but the Chrono registers both lap number and split time so you can quickly see when you've forgotten to press (ie one lap at 1:50 instead of two at 55 seconds). Also nice that you can review total laps, total time, average lap time, fastest and slowest splits, and each individual lap time. All in all a great tool that helps me keep track of laps, and helps me to keep track of progress.

I wear this like a little watch on my index finger. One button does it all. If you are like me it will take a bit of use to remember how to navigate through all the reports and get started for the next workout. After that is easy.

I use it for all my swimming workouts. Numbers are easy for this, um, older person to read. I have been using it four times a week for about six months, it had been flawless. The waterproofing is clearly solid.

And the price is so much better than other timers I have tried.

I received this a couple days ago and was very excited to get a good swim in while using this to track my swim. I used it for the first time this morning in a pool for laps. It worked great for the first 5 laps. The button responded perfectly when I hit it once for a lap and twice to pause. Then the screen went blank... Water got into the device.

I have sent a request to exchange the drowned one for a new one... I will provide an update when I hear back from the company.

Edit:

I called the company and they quickly sent me a replacement. It survived its first training session use - 1300 yards. It is easy to use and provides reports when done, as expected. This is definitely a tool that has made tracking my training much easier! Hopefully this replacement lasts at least a few more months!

Also, the battery does look like it can be easily replaced. - Lap Counter - Training Aids - Timer - Lap Count'

kitchen sink faucets - kitchen sink faucets, pull down faucets

Hey folks,

We ordered this faucet thinking it would be a great fit for our modern loft. It arrived and after partial installation my wife gave me "the look" indicating it didn't have the functionality or "cool" factor necessary for our place. Here are a few bulleted items I had issues with:

1. The nozzle is made of plastic and not stainless-steel as described. Forgive me for sounding like an ignorant consumer but when the website said everything was made of stainless steel, I actually believed them.

2. The articulation of the spring is very, very, minimal and would not reach the bottom of our sink. Essentially, the spring adds no functionality only visual effects.

3. It's made in China. Again, maybe I'm sounding like an uneducated consumer but I seriously thought some of the high-end faucets were still made in Europe and the U.S.

We are returning it on Monday and plan on ordering a Grohe Minta faucet. Who knows, maybe we'll like it, it'll work, and it'll come out of the box as described...novel concept, I know.

Rosco the Dog Danze D455158SS Parma Single Handle Pre-Rinse Faucet, Stainless Steel

The other San Franciscan worried me as my partner is a designer and I thought for sure this faucet would be summarily rejected for our new laundry room sink. I wanted to order the whole thing from Amazon to save sales tax and save time (I really hate going to showrooms... bay area traffic and all). Here's the set I put together on Amazon: Danze D495958SS Parma Deck Mount Soap and Lotion Dispenser, Stainless Steel and Houzer CTG-3200 Contempo 32-by-18-Inch Single Bowl Undermount Stainless Steel Sink plus this faucet. I held my breath as he examined the various parts... I pointed out the plastic nozzle on the sink and offered to return the whole thing saying that some other cool SF design types had dispatched it from their glamour loft no doubt in south of market with haste and gee Amazon offers easy returns.... I stammered... "I love it!" was the response and days later the whole set was installed, undermount, drilled Caesar Stone, boom presto and it looks like a million bucks.

Now I don't like the fact this thing is made in China either, but I do like the price....and if you go to the orange big box home improvement place that rhymes with "cheapo" you will find on their website that the price is much higher than here. As far as the plastic nozzle, I thought this would be a deal breaker for both of us, but it's actually acceptable. Yes, I'd prefer it be metal, but frankly I'd rather spend this price and update it in 5-10 years than keep this thing around decades and have someone say "Oh, I remember when those pre-rinse faucets were in style." Seriously, you really have to look closely to see that it's plastic and even if the outer "bell" were metal, the inside (aerator, spray) would have to be plastic anyway. It's not cheapy and it matches the rest of the faucet perfectly. And speaking of the rest, the thing is built like a tank, very solid...the control for the water has a great "glide" to it and feels very solid in your hand. The nozzle looks like a mini-shower head with a row of small holes around a large hole (for spray mode or normal faucet mode).

I'm going to go try the spring action to see what I can reach...be right back....

OK the other reviewer is right, the faucet head doesn't reach down into the sink....the spring action just lets you move from side to side. If you're wanting to reach way down, a sprayer on a hose might be more appropriate. I don't see that as a disadvantage personally. I don't need to reach down to the bottom of the sink - I just need a good aim, and this spring / hose thing provides great maneuverability.

I cannot attest to how this will wear, and I must confess I am a little worried about the aforementioned plastic (will it scratch? will it flake?). I'll return to edit this review in a few months after some use and update you, dear reader, but again for this price I'm very happy.

Hope this helps you find your dream faucet, one way or another!

Update 12/31/10: This faucet is holding up nicely... there was one problem. The faucet head began leaking from the handle. I suspect the plumber may have gotten some pipe "dope" in there or some other debris. I tried to see if there was anything causing the problem and could not. I then emailed the company and within 7 days had a brand new nozzle from them, free, via UPS. Excellent customer service! I am very happy with both the company and with this faucet.

We purchased this faucet and loved the way it fit in our modern kitchen. We've gotten lots of compliments and it looks very impressive. However, after having it about a year, we realized that the sprayer is made of plastic with a cheap chrome coating. After two years of use, the sprayer, because it is constantly handled, is dull, scratched, and the chrome coating is bubbled and flaking off. Not what I expected. All the other parts seem to be made of metal, but the most handled part! I think it's unacceptable that a faucet that costs almost $300 is done after two years of service. And, we are just two people, not a family, and only cook at home about 2-3 times a week. I think most families would find this faucet falling apart after about 6-8 months!

I haven't installed this faucet yet, but I will comment on the finish and build quality. The finish looks great and the fixture is quite heavy and sturdy. One concern is that the spray head is plastic and another thing to keep in mind is that this fixture is going to be a little harder to clean because of the coil spring.

I got this faucet at a really good price and didn't have much expectations for it. It was priced around the same range as most mid line faucets you find at Home Depot and Lowes. I expected the finish product to be light weight and flimsy but when I got in, it was heavy duty stainless steel. It was even more beautiful once we had it installed on our new granite countertop. The lever to turn on the faucet is a great design because I can tunn on the water with ease even if my hands are dirty. The faucet itself is a work of art and finishes any new kitchen design. I have had this faucet in my kitchen for about a year now and it still works beautifully. I am very impressed with this faucet and highly recommend it. - Pull Down Faucets - Single-handle Faucets - Kitchen Sink Faucets'

Playstation 2 Games - playstation 2, college football

I was very excited about this game being released because i LOVED 2008. I skipped buying the 2009 game because i don't see the point in getting a new one every year. So i was very excited about the rosters on this year's games. However, after the first play, i could tell that nothing has changed since 08. The game play is exactly the same, and i didn't see any new moves. I've only had the game for 36 hours, but can tell u that i was disappointed in the lack of changes/graphics. There are a few new features, and some color schemes are different, but as far as the game itself, just not a lot of differences.

I do LOVE this game. I have played the 2008 version ever since it came out, so i still enjoy this game. I gave it 4 stars because it's still a GREAT game. However, i believe that since the PS3 and 360 are the big products now, and PS2 games aren't priced as high, they seem to be neglecting this format, and it's fans, with the new games. They still market these games, without making any changes, because we still are buying them, and they don't have to invest the money in making anything different. That part sucks. NCAA Football 10

I should have known that 10 was not going to be any real upgrade, but still bought it. As C. Dean points out, he did not by 09. I skipped 09 as well. C. Dean is spot on. What this tells me is that I am going to have to buy PS 3 eventually, even at $400. Sony is not investing anymore real monies into its PS 2 games and eventually the PS2 will go the way of the Gamecube. In a way I feel robbed, not by the game, because it is good. I just don't want to buy anymore PS 2 games new and yet I don't like going to Game Stop. This game is fun and is good. But it is the same as 2008. Same plays, same moves etc etc etc.

I've spent more time playing the 2008, 2009, and 2010 version of this series then I should admit, but there are significant upgrades in each version. In the 2008 version, the receivers drop too many passes, there are FAR too many fumbles, the defenders can't break from from blocks and the linebackers and defensive backs take horrendous attack angles on downfield tackles. Not to make an even longer laundry list, but fouls are ridiculous and the only reasonable solution is to turn off the fouls entirely, which makes onside kicks unrealistic. These problems have been largely fixed in the 2010 version. Defense in general is significantly improved in 2010 and fewer passes bounce off of wide open receivers (unless it's a short crossing pattern... argh!).

2009 was the first attempt to introduce the play simulator and it had a number of problems that were fixed in the 2010 version. Specifically, simulated onside kicks were always recovered by the kicking team, and if a touchdown was scored during simulation and there was a foul, the offensive would get the ball back, but the points stay on the scoreboard. This was fixed in the 2010 version. Simulation was generally improved, but there are still problems with the simulated defense being too good, unless the offense crosses the 50 yard line... if they make it that far, they nearly always score.

I spend most of the time in dynasty mode, and these are all extremely fun and few improvements have been made or are needed. One of the interesting developments has been the lower quality of recruits in the 2010 version (compared to 2008), especially lineman and FB/TE. This causes the computer teams to get worse over time in the latest versions, whereas in 2008, there are still several teams ranked as A+ overall even after 20 seasons.

There are also issues with the NCAA sanctions for player actions. After about 10 seasons, lots (~50%) of teams are on sanctions and the bowl games see the occasional team with a 3-9 record as too many teams are disqualified from post-season games.

I'm guessing the EA Sports is winding down its PS2 games, but based on the differences between 2008, 2009, and 2010, improvements do occur, even if they are minor.

I had purchased this game for my ps2 and hands down the best college game ever made. so when I bought my ps3 I decided to purchase the same game for the ps3 version and I am very very disappointed the ps3 version is the absolute worst game ever produced who cares for good graphics if the game sucks get it right ea or Sony. buy the ps2 version it rocks.

I ordered this game for my 25 year old son and he plays it all the time. He is laid off from work and staying with me so he has a lot of time to play. Very lifelike graphics. He says its a great game.

I would just like to say thank you to EA and Sony for continuing to release NCAA Football editions each year on the Playstation 2 for those of us who don't have buckets of cash to dump on the whole plasma LCD 'HD' experience thats being crammed down everyone's throats. Oh and look its 40 bucks instead of 60 too. Even if its the same game as 08 it's already perfect no need to change a good thing, I just want the updated rosters, I'll pay for that every year they keep putting it out. Get the feelin' there's alot of people goin into massive debt tryin to keep up with the plasma tv/PS3/PS3 game prices/Blueray DVD prices. But hey its America right, pile it on, no worries.

In spite the fact that this game and the system are by now immensely old (at least for todays standards), this game can still offer hours of endless fun. The most important thing is that you are the fan of the game itself, thentwether you play single or multi-player mode, Season or Dynasty, really doesn't make that much difference. The developers paid a lot of attention to details, which can really be appreciatet during the latter mentioned modes. When said that the game is old, first visually it used even back then a style which its predecessors already used before it, and also older rosters go without saying. Nevertheless, this is a fun game.

Childrens Art Supplies - school supplies, childrens art supplies

It says in the product review about that this pair is the most recommended by teachers. They're not kidding either. If you're looking for something that is easier for children to manipulate, especially those in kindergarten and preschool, be SURE to buy these! They hold up so very well, are more comfortable in their hands, and they just work so much better than those cheaper store brands. We've had these for quite a few years and I can't say enough good about them. They even work great when you're sewing and need to cut a thread or two! Highly recommend! Fiskars 94167097 Kids Classic 5-Inch Blunt Tip Scissors, Colors May Vary

Dont be fooled into thinking that these scissors are truly for left-handed kids. The handles may be molded to fit either hand. But in order to be truly left handed scissors, the blades must be reversed. It's physically impossible to make ambidexterous scissors. Hold the scissors open in front of you, with the blade pointing away from you and one handle in each hand. If the blade on top is coming from your left hand, then they are truly left-handed scissors. If it's on the right, then they simply won't cut well when used left handed. The natural cutting action of the hand will push the blades apart rather than together and the paper will slip between the blades - very frustrating for a preschooler who is learning to use scissors. If you're looking for scissors for your left-handed child, don't waste your money on these!

Pros:

- Great quality (construction and details) product, great brand (Fiskar).

- Blunt tip for child's safety

- Not dangerously sharp but cuts perfectly on papers, strings, even cardboard. Blades are perfectly aligned. Actually useful for many household chores.

- Rust resistant

- Handles are well suited for little hands

Cons:

- A little pricy (but you can find it on sale for 99 cents a piece at certain times. If you do, grab a couple or more)

These are Fiskars so you expect sharp quality that cuts without binding. That's what you get of course. They cut reliably and take the frustration out that comes with the cheap stamped scissors that are riveted together. They're blunt nozed and short.

Great for trimming the occasional matted hair from a long haired dog. It's easy to poke an uncooperative dog with sharp pointed or long scissors. These are perfect as well as sharp and durable.

This is a good quality scissor and just what I was looking for for our 4-year old daughter. We bought another pair locally but found that it was too sharp for her and ran the risk of cutting herself. We bought these instead and they are much safer, no chance of her cutting herself. It still cuts through paper without any problem. In fact, I use it to open up all her toys and their arduous packaging with this pair of scissors and it works just fine. Recommended product for your little one.

I've got a 3 and 4 yr old and they love these scissors. My only flaw was in ordering only 2. We've already lost a pair. Now they fight over the last remaining one! But back to the review, they are high quality, easy to use, and the tip is round so they aren't stabbing each other. In other words, if you need scissors for kids just buy them and quit reading reviews already.

The tip is not pointy, but the blades are nearly as sharp as the normal scissors. The packaging says it's for 4 year old kids and above, which is probably the age when they are more aware of the danger. Don't buy it for younger kids, or as in my case, if the kid has a sibling smaller than 4.

Cutting works well and the handle fits the kid's hand well too.

I got this for my son, who has been using the large adult scissors for cutting (paper, cardboard, etc) since the other kid's scissors I got him was plastic and cuts paper decently (if you only use 1 sheet) but does not cut well on thicker paper or thin cardboards. Since I got this for him he's been using this scissors and seem happy with it. - Art - School Supplies - Childrens Art Supplies - Left-handed'

Great Deal - am3, phenom

Paired this CPU with Gigabyte MA785GM-US2H. Was able to unlock all four cores to make it a Phenom II X4. OCed from stock 3.2GHz to 3.6GHz, rock solid. Didn't try to go any further but I know it has much more potentials. AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition Callisto 3.2 GHz 2x512 KB L2 Cache Socket AM3 80W Dual-Core Processor - Retail HDZ555WFGMBOX

This was a great purchase seeing how much you get from it. First of all, it's blazing fast at stock speeds. AND coming from my athlon II x2 240, it was a big improvement. Paired with my MSI 760g-e51 mobo, it let me unlock the two locked cores thus making it a phenom II x4. This is a great buy if your able to unlock the cores. THANKS AMD FOR MAKING A PROCESSOR WITH 2 UNLOCKED CORES!!!

Best in my opinion.

Didn't unlock cores, don't care to, works very fast. Most apps and games are single threaded so dual core is best real world usage. Benchmarks BAH!

Runs so efficient that I didn't need the fan on my Coolermaster Hyper 212 rifle cooler, and it gets as hot as 32 degrees. Keep in mind that is in a case with 120mm back and 140mm top, so good air flow.

I love EFFICIENT!

The AMD Phenom II X2 Socket AM3 is a rock-solid processor, even without unlocking the extra cores. If you manage to unlock the extra cores, you will have a processor that runs faster than stock Phenom II X4 processors. To be exact, this processor, running with all 4 cores, runs at 3.68GHz, without any overclocking. Nice!

Unlocking the cores, I've read, is somewhat of a hit and miss deal. First, you might need to upgrade your motherboard, or use someone else's that has core unlocking capabilities to unlock them. Second, the locked cores are NOT tested by AMD, so don't be too surprised if you find yourself unable to unlock one or both extra cores.

If you don't like to take chances, or if the processor you have now is better than this one with 2 cores, this is not the processor for you. If you have an old (3+ years old is practically prehistoric in the world of tech), slow, single or dual core processor, this one will knock it's socks off even with only 2 cores. I upgraded from an Athlon II X2 4600+ 2.4GHz Dual Core, and the difference was noticable the first time I powered up my machine again. Of course, I upgraded my Motherboard and RAM at the same time, so that made a difference as well, I'm sure.

As for the temperatures of this Processor, I can not say, as none of my utility programs can detect the temp. of this processor, for whatever reason.

If you don't know what Socket AM3 means, it's basically the pin configuration of the processor. They change it up, so you cannot insert a processor into incompatible motherboards. AM3 is very similar to Socket AM2, and AM3 CPUs can run on a motherboard listed for AM2 & AM2+ (but not the other way around). I do not know if using AM3 on an AM2 Motherboard reduces performance, but I have not read anything to suggest it.

WINDOWS EXPERIENCE INDEX:

7.4/7.9 with all 4 cores in use.

The following is technical data as seen from the AMD Overdrive utility.

NAME: AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 B55 Processor

INSTRUCTIONS: MMX(+), 3DNow!(tm)(+), SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSE4A, x86-64

FAMILY: 10 | MODEL: 04 | Stepping: 3

PACKAGE: Socket AM3 | Revision RB-C3

HT Ref Clock: 230MHz | Voltage: 1.43V

Core Speed: 3680MHz | Core Multiplier 16X

NB Speed: 2301 MHz | NB Multiplier: 10X

L1 Code Cache: 64 KB X 4

L2 Data Cache: 64 KB X 4

Level 2 Cache: 512 KB X 4

Level 3 Cache: 6144 KB

Not much else I can think of to say, so I'll sum it up:

Consider this CPU if you need an upgrade AND this cpu, out of the box, is better than your current one.

The 2 hidden cores may be about 60/40 as to whether you'll unlock them, in favor of success, but I could be wrong about this.

The price, for what you get, is fair. The price, for what you'll PROBABLY get, is AWESOME!

AMD Phenom II X4 B55 3.7GHz FTW.

This is an amazing quad-core processor for an amazing price. Yes, quad-core. There are actually two cores turned off on this cpu. Although it's not guaranteed to work many motherboards have a quick setting to allow you to unlock the hidden cores. I was lucky enough to get a perfectly functional second set that passed stress testing flawlessly. Not bad for half the price they're asking for the advertised quad-core. My motherboard was a Gigabyte GA-870A-UD3 and it was a one click bios setting, though there are plenty other boards that allow it. Search online for "unlock phenom x2" and do a little research. Good luck.

I've had this processor since March of this year and i have to say that this chip is awesome. Bought this with the intention to overclock but the stock speed is more than enough at the moment. Runs all my applications very smoothly as well as my games (most games are optimized for dual core CPU's so most people don't need a quad core yet). If you are purchasing to try and unlock the extra cores please understand that AMD does not guaranty that you will succeed (to the one star temper tantrum below). This is an amazing processor for someone on a budget, hope this review helps!

-Update-

Finally gave overclocking a shot and got it to 3.675 without touching the voltage! temps are at 34-38 (idle-load) on air cooling. haven't tried going further but I'm sure I can get it to 3.8 (judging by the temperatures). BUY IT!!

what can you say, low price, dual core goodness. I tried the core unlocker but got no love, however, the chip has performed well and I would recommend this for an upgrade from an Athlon or a single core system. Obviously, it's not the fastest chip on the block, but is great for the sub-$100 price tag!

After reading the reviews on this item here in the great Amazon, I bought the item. I've always wanted a Black Edition processor but was not willing to pay a high price. This item is posted as a two core processor and with the right motherboard and luck, one can unlock the extra two cores making it a four core. I'm using this processor with the Gigabyte ma785gm-us2h motherboard and an Arctic Freezer 7 Pro rev.2 cpu cooler. After messing around with the BIOS I'm running at 3.9 GHz without any problems. It was no real problem opening the extra two cores with the motherboard I am using. All cores appear to be working good. - Am3 - Great Deal - Phenom - Overclock'

Xbox 360 Holiday Bundle - alan wake, consoles

DISCLAIMER: This review is limited to the redesigned Xbox 360 that came out in June of 2010.

First of all, the Xbox 360 is a truly great console with an excellent game library and revolutionary online play. With that said, I know many have experienced problems with overheating, causing a number of issues. I know Microsoft has claimed it is "whisper quiet" and that it runs significantly cooler than previous versions. That is true, to an extent. But what Microsoft has failed to convey to the general public is that the Xbox is basically a highly modified computer that generates significant heat and needs proper ventilation to function like they claim. So here are some general tips for unsuspecting consumers.

1. Install the game to the harddrive: Under My Xbox you will see "Play [Title of Game]". Hit the yellow Y button to install game. It will give you the option of install game or play game. Choose to install. This shouldn't take very long, each game is 5-7 GB each. You will notice your system drop a few volume levels after doing this. Trust me!

2. Proper ventilation: This takes some common sense. Make clear and ample room for your heat vents. Most of the heat dissipates from the top vent (if you console is laying horizontal) and right side.

3. Keep your Xbox horizontal. Yes, the Amazon picture currently shows an upright, vertical Xbox. It looks cool, I know. The first thing I did with mine was place it vertical on a hardwood floor and played for maybe an hour. Bad idea. The area of the floor where my console once stood was unbelievably hot.

Keep in mind that you need to have the 250GB version in order to install games. The 4 GB just doesn't give enough space. Installing your games and maintaining proper ventilation are key to keeping your Xbox 360 as cool as possible. Not to mention the quicker load times and super quiet operation when actually playing. Hopefully following these simple tips will prolong the life of your console. May you and your Xbox 360 have a long, happy relationship! Xbox 360 250GB Holiday Bundle

I would like to begin by saying that I have had an Xbox 360 since 2007. I had one of the "Falcon" chipset models, and even that console was loud, crude, and frustrating. I dealt with the mishaps however, as the games and content you get from Xbox is top notch. After 3 years of playing the console (a month after my 3 warranty ended) my Xbox died on December 8th, 2010 due to an E74 error. Microsoft would have charged me over $100 if I sent the thing in, so I figured it was not worth it. I did not know whether to give it a funeral or smash it to bits, since the previous cheaper models are hard to come by. I had no choice but to purchase the new console since I spent so much time and effort in my games in the first place. I just got it today and I can tell you it is a vast improvement from the older models. VAST.

Noise and Reliability:

This is one of the reasons people tend to shy away from the Xbox 360, along with the Red Ring of Death and E74 errors.(DARN YOU E74!!!). The console is DEAD silent. You do not hear a peep from the thing until you start playing a game. That's the thing, it's not silent when you play a game, but it's definitely not deafening. It's certainly a great improvement over the older ones, and what you do hear is a silent buzz. The POWER and EJECT button make a beeping sound when pressed, like the (FAT) PS3's do. It's kinda cool. Other than this, I do recommend that you install your games, because if you do, it will be dead silent all the time. As for reliability, I cannot comment much about it, but from what I understand, you cannot get the Red Ring of Death anymore. The console gives you a warning message, then proceeds to shut itself down, to prevent internal damage. You let it cool down and it will be back to normal.

Functionality:

The 360 case is shiny, and very much a finger print magnet. The controller has changed a bit too. It looks like it has a matte feel, but feels like shiny plastic and the bottom is shiny black. The "X" guide button used to be a metal finish, now it is chrome. The POWER and EJECT button are touch sensitive, where you can just tap the area and the button is pressed. Makes a beeping sound when pressed too. The console has 5 USB ports, two in the front and 3 in the back. It has an HDMI port, a separate optical audio port (YAY, the old one forced you to use the Component cable outs). It also has the standard Ethernet port. This console does have a wireless N adapter, which is pretty awesome. I didn't use it, since I already had the space built for the Ethernet cable, but it's there if connections are an issue. The console itself, is smaller, and there are vents everywhere! The memory ports have been taken off, as they are basically dinosaur material. A couple of points that you have to know:

1. The console no longer comes with HD cables out of the box, only standard A/V cables. This is a disappointment, but Amazon had their branded HDMI cables which are awesome.

2. The hard drive is not the same as the previous ones, which means that you cannot simply "plug in" your old drive to the new ones. This is a hassle, but you can get the transfer cable and transfer content to the new Xbox 360. Works well, but installed games do not transfer, so you have to install them again. A pain, but still works. A Long with the transfer, you have to transfer licenses if you have bought anything from Xbox Live which is very easy. If you would like to know how to transfer Hard Drive data or Licenses to your new console, ask me in the comments and I'll give you a short tutorial.

Conclusion:

This is a great product. Aside from a few gripes, this is vast improvement from the originals. If you don;t have an Xbox 360, I highly recommend this item. If your old Xbox 360 broke, I also highly recommend it. BUT, if your old Xbox 360 still works, you would be a fool to spend $299.99 on this. It is the same exact console and should only be bought if, or I should say WHEN your old Xbox craps out on you. This review was mainly for people who do not know much about the 360, or have had their old 360 die on them. If you have any questions, I will be glad to answer them in the comments. - Forza - Consoles - Alan Wake - Xbox'

D-link Wireless Router - d-link wireless router, d-link

Reviews. from people like me don't really help you consumers much, as I am a tech freak, so I come on here, already knowing what I want to buy, all I will say is that, if you are looking for a wireless router that has great strength over a moderate distance, then the D-Link N150 is for you. It works for just browsing, and gaming alike. I have yet to lose a connection with the massive use I have going on with it.

I have 9 computers, 1 Playstation 3, 2 Xbox 360's and 1 Nintendo Wii, running off of this one wireless router, and even with 80 percent of those up at one time, I have never been dropped, and have seen full connectivity each time, with perfect latency in between. No lag, Nor overlay.

I live him an apartment, with 3 people. D-Link DIR-601 Wireless N 150 Home Router

I have used many bargain & a few name brands of wireless equipment over the years. I bought this D-Link because it is almost as inexpensive as the bargain brands, some of which worked, some of which didn't & all of which lacked helpful software and instructions. I'm using 2 of these DIR-601's a Wireless Access Points. No interference with each other (BTW, 2.4 GHz portable phones interfere with all wireless network devices, so we switched to Panasonic DECT 6.0 phones). There are simple instructions in the PDF manual, which is quite good overall, for hooking them into a router & using them as WAPs. They connect easily to our laptops and iPad -- just choose your network and type in your password (WPA2 encryption is best) the first time -- no software drivers required. We run both G and N laptops. Range seems excellent. Setup software is easy to use. I like this D-Link so much I bought my son one. He uses it as a wireless router at his apartment and it works fine for him too.

Unfortunately, this router suffers from intermittent lapses in broadcast. I have not had a problem with the hard wired desktop attached to it but the wireless cuts out when using my laptop and Roku player. Both are stationary and all are in the same room as the router. Online and phone support were great but could not fix the problem. Went with a N300 Belkin for ten dollars more and have had no issues. You get what you pay for sometimes.

I gave the D-Link DIR-601 router a 4-star rating based the three most important attributes: Price, ease of setup and performance. It was only $20 at the time I purchased it, which seems less than the cost of the materials to make it(!). Since this was my first experience with a router in my home, I did a fair amount of research and found a lot of not-so-good reviews on many more-to-MUCH-more-expensive routers. The problem areas were invariably poor range and difficult installation. The reviews on the DIR-601 were much better than most, which, combined with price, is why I chose it.

I can confirm that the reviews are accurate. Installation was extremely easy; the "wizard" worked perfectly on an XP computer. I do have some minor range issues, but fewer than those reported by some users of much more expensive routers. The router is in my home office in the BASEMENT of the house. The basement walls are 8" poured concrete and the router happens to be next to the north wall. If I take my Toshiba Win 7 laptop to any part of the house OUTSIDE the planes of the basement walls (the porch and the breakfast-room-extension off the kitchen), the signal strength can drop to as little as 2 out of 5 bars, and download speed can drop from 18-20Mbps to just under 4Mbps. But I'm pretty sure that NO router -- at any price -- would do significantly better if positioned in the same place. Everywhere INSIDE the planes of the basement walls -- even the bedrooms 2-stories up and farthest from the router -- I typically get 4-5 bars. There are times when it falls to 3 bars in one bedroom, but it's not consistently at that level, so the drop-off could be due to transient interference from other electronics (e.g., our three cordless phones or routers in homes near us). I'm virtually certain that I could improve the signal strength in the areas where it's low by positioning the router close to the basement ceiling and away from the walls. But doing that requires (a) a couple of very long Ethernet cables (impractical) or (b) a couple of power line Ethernet adapters (expensive) or (c) getting a repeater (also expensive).

I had one issue that I called D-Link's tech support about. Shields Up (Gibson Research's program that tests the status of the first 1056 ports on your computer) has always shown my desktop ports to be 100% "stealth" -- invisible to the Internet. After installing the router, it showed ports 0 and 1 as only "closed", not "stealth". I contacted D-Link support via e-mail and received a reply within a day asking me to call a support phone #, which I did. The call was answered immediately (no hold time), the technician (South Africa) was knowledgeable and resolved the issue during the call. Turns out Shields Up is measuring the status of the router, not my PC. This tech support experience was completely opposite to what I had been told about D-Link's support -- that it was slow and not very good. If I were rating their tech support, I'd give it 5 stars.

If you're new to routers, be aware that this is NOT an N-300 router; it's an N-150 router. That means (my understanding) that the maximum bandwidth it can deliver is 150Mbps. Since no one in the house plays complex games or streams movies from the Internet, and there are currently only 2 computers using the cable connection, a 300Mbps router would be overkill for us. But if you have multiple (4-5) computers playing Internet games simultaneously, you should probably get an N-300 router.

I never write reviews, but was so impressed by the bang for your buck with this little router, and its ease of set-up, that I decided I would for this product. First off, I'm a mac user, so I was totally prepared for this to be a nightmare for me to set up on my parents' PC. Seriously, I don't know the first thing about PCs, but thought I'd give it a try since I needed a wireless network so I could use my ipad when visiting, and the router was so cheap. I was concerned when I saw the box and it said perfect for the small apartment, as my folks have a large house, but for the price, and since I'd only be using it when visiting, I figured at least there would be a few rooms I could connect. Well, I popped the disc in and followed the easy step-by-step directions, and not only were we wireless in less than 5-10 minutes, but we also had coverage all over the house. Very pleased, and so will my parents be when we start chatting via face time! - Wireless N - D-link - Router - D-link Wireless Router'

Swedish Massage - acupressure, stress relief

I've only had the mat for a few weeks, but I am using it regularly and found it to really help with relaxation. It does take some getting used to, and still sometimes can be too sharp for me depending on how I lie on it (more intense when on side; more diffused on back). That said, I've fallen asleep on it a couple of times and found it's helped with back and hip pain, too. If you are interested in alternative methods for pain relief or stress reduction, then I'd recommend it. However, it's not like just getting a blissful massage-- it's definitely more like drinking a tea that helps you relax but still has a bitter taste.

My neighbor suggested my husband and I try this mat since I have a problem with sleep deprevation and him stress, lack of energy. This mat is simply amazing. After the initial shocks of pain subside, your body goes through a wave of flushing warm heat. It instantly relaxes you. It normally takes me 45 minutes to 1 hour to fall asleep. The second time using the mat I remember laying on it and looking at the clock setting myself mentally for 10 minutes, the last time I looked, I had fallen asleep for over an hour! I since then have recommended it to everyone I know.

The Shakti Mat is simply amazing! This is the original Swedish spike mat and I actually bought mine while I was in Sweden last year.

I still use it several times a week when feeling stressed or tense at night and most times I even fall asleep on it :)

It's so relaxing you just melt away...

Wow! A few minutes of using this and I was hooked. I practice martial arts and yoga and this is a must have. Start slow, this is an exhilarating product, and is really powerful. It is well made and has no artificial smell or anything. The spikes are sturdy and well made - but they are sharp and can hurt you if not careful. When used as recommended with patience and care, this is a great product!

I got this mat for my husband for his birthday. He has lower back problems and read an article that this would help. He still uses a shirt when he lies on it, and he does like it. His whole back is red after he uses it, but I think it increases circulation thus helping the muscles to relax. Definitely a different experience and if you endure some "pain" it does relax you. Our dog on the other hand stays clear away from it after his paw touched it.

Having lived in China for a year, I wanted to try something similar to the massages I'd get there. No, they don't usually use oil in China, and it's acupressure, not puncture, being used for massages. So, I figured that since my muscles felt great there, and the government subsidizes the massages for the public, that there must be something to it. I've been using the mat now for 2 months and I can say that I really do feel more relaxed after using it. It takes getting used to, but I can now have my wife lay on top of me and it doesn't even faze me anymore. Give it a try, I recommend it.

I have used this mat every day since it came. It is a great circulation booster. Typically, I incorporate it into my stretching routine at the end of my daily workout. It's great for the back, neck, shoulders or basically any part of the body which requires tension relief. Standing on the mat provides a great foot massage. I recommend keeping a light fabric between skin and mat to begin with, but with repeated use skin to mat contact provides even deeper benefits. I have poor circulation, particularly in my hands and feet, and using the Shakti Mat definitely helps.

I haven't used this product in all the ways it can be, mostly use it only for the feet, and tried lying on the back a few times. It feels great, and does seem to release tension in areas. I keep it in my office, and walk on it frequently during the day. - Acupuncture - Acupressure - Back Pain Relief - Stress Relief'

Docking Stations - fm transmitter, charger

This is a great product that i've been using for the past several months. It's one of the more inexpensive options in its class and shouldn't be counted out.

HOWEVER - I see that this product has been getting a lot of very bad reviews and can explain why!

I also ran into the problem of the product working once and then stopping. I exchanged it for a new one and had the same problem *BUT* I figured out that the product just has a small quirk and will actually work every time - and very work very well!!! See, if the transmitter remains plugged into the outlet with the ipod connected for a long period of time when not in use, it will go off and all the buttons will stop working. Instead of displaying the radio station it's tuned to, the display will be black. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS UNPLUG THE IPOD AND PLUG IT BACK IN. The radio station will be displayed again and the transmitter will work! Once i figured out this little trick, i never again had any issue with the product.

I would definitely recommend it!! DLO TransDock Micro 2.0 FM Transmitter for iPod (Black)

I bought this under assurances from the Amazon Seller that it would work with my iPhone in addition to working with iPod. It does not (work with the iPhone). In talking to DLO's tech support folks, they were emphatic in saying that if you buy a DLO FM Transmitter, you MUST purchase the one that specifically says it is for use with the iPhone (not just the iPod). Luckily for me, I had a friend that was looking for one of these for their iPod, and I was able to recoup my money. So be careful if you have an iPhone and are looking to buy one of these units.

I bought this product to be used in my 2003 Honda Civic. The dock is too big to fit my car power outlet (I always thought it is standard size). It took me a while to push it in, as gently as I could. To my dismay, the transmission did not work. I have not been able to use this product as it is intended, since day one. More importantly, the device is now permanently stuck in my car. At the time this review is written, I cannot return the product to Best Buy. I will have to drive my car to the Honda dealer and see if they can pull it back out without damaging my car power outlet - which I also use to charge my cell phone.

Initially this worked great, on a 2 hour car trip. Next time I went to use it, it only charged the ipod, wasn't playing any music and nothing was showing on the display. For $60 I figured it would work longer then once....

I purchased this on a whim after my Monster transmitter broke. I really should have waited and did some research. My initial thoughts were, "This intellitune is going to be great!" WRONG! The intellitune usually finds the worst station possible. Not only that, but stations I knew worked perfectly (from my Monster transmitter) sounded horrible. As a matter of fact any station that actually works, sounds horrible. If you live in, or right next to NYC (most likely any city) don't expect this product to do anything for you.

Aside from this transmitter, prett much, not working... It MUST be jammed into, or yanked out of your lighter socket. At least in my car. If I shut my car off, and turn it back on, the transmitter will not turn on. I have to yank it out, and jam it back in every time! I found the controls were extremely annoying too.

In short, if you are looking for a FM transmitter, this is not the one to buy.

I purchased this product and initially gave it a good review. I should have waited. After one day it began working intermittently and sometimes the control button would not work at all. It had poor quality in the city also. I took it back and exchanged for a new one which had all the same problems and more. It worked as advertised about 10% of the time. It is also too large for the cigarette lighter socket on my Saab and was extraordinarily difficult to get in and out. I can't stress enough how dis-satisfied I am with this product.

I am so mad at myself for ignoring the bad reviews of this product and buying it anyway! It worked for a total of less than 2 hours before dying and I mean D-E-A-D dying. I have never ever been so duped by a company in my life. DLO should be put out of business immediately and forced to refund every dollar "earned" on this piece of crap.

I have been using two of these for years. both worked great the only problem with the first was it got stolen. If it shuts off just unplug it all and plug it back in. it is a frustrating quirk at times and I almost did return the first one when this first happned to me. but the sound is great and the tuning is quick and easy.

This is a poorly designed merchandise from DLO, which is very uncharacteristic of them.

First, the socket is way too big and it is really frustrating to try to fit it into your car DC outlet. Second, the transmitter seemed to work only when it pleased. After using it without any problem for a few days, suddenly it just refused to start up after i start my car. At first, i though a connection is loosed. I took it out and put it back in but it refused to work. I tried about 3 times, finally giving up, planning to take it back for an exchange. However, upon starting the car the next day, it works again! (Even though I havent touched it since it failed to start up!). From then on, my transmitter had been like that. It will work sometimes but not other times. (My car electric outlet is certainly working fine because I can charge my torchlight all the time without fail.)

In conclusion, this is a horrible product. What good is a transmitter if it cant be even fitted into its electric socket??? (and i havent talk about the poor radio reception yet) Stay away!!! - Ipod Accessories - Fm Transmitters - Fm Transmitter - Charger'
