Home Theater Pc - home theater pc, windows

Some ppl seem to think that this should be like the 75-100$ remotes... This it is not.

The manual is weak, a bad translation from Chinese with many errors... Big deal - it works.

If you have Windows XP, Vista or 7 (32 and 64 bit) just plug it in and it works. The computer sees it as a keyboard/mouse. A little searching will find the key codes for the 'special' function buttons and you can always use AutohotKey (which is free) to get them to do -whatever- PC task you had in mind.

This is far better (and cheaper) than some of the DIY solutions I've previously used. If you really know your way around Windows then this is for you. PC Media Center Remote Control with Infrared USB Receiver

Primarily worked as advertised. The 'shortcut' buttons are nothing more than Ctrl+Alt+1, Ctrl+Alt+2, etc. that you need to program your computer to recognize. You cannot program this remote to in any fashion. It was a simple plug and play. My single major criticism is the mouse function is total suck. Its slow and 70% of the time you are moving the mouse you'll get about 1/4 the way across the screen and it stops. It makes using this VERY frustrating.

We have a treadmill in our house setup in our entertainment room. Sometimes I hook up my laptop to our flat screen to watch Hulu videos while I run. The problem of course with this is that whenever I wanted to pause, fast forward, or simply go to another video I would have to pause the treadmill, jump off, and run over to the laptop. With this PC media center remote control I can browse movies that I want to watch via my home PC theater (i.e. Hulu or NBC shows online) without having to use a keyboard. This allows me to keep running on the treadmill and not interrupt my workout while I find another show to watch. Although it is a bit tricky, I can even navigate to a different site and do Google searches while I'm still running by using the alphabet keys on the numeric keypad on the remote.

I only bought this because I needed and extra IR recevier and I thought this was a real Media Center replacment. It isn't and so I just wasted my money on a piece of junk. It does work with Media Center, but not with an actual Media Center remote - you have to use the crappy one that's comes with the receiver. And "crappy" is being kind. Oh well, it was really cheap and I can use it in a pinch. But as soon as I find a Media Center IR receiver that is truely compatible, this one is going in the trash. I blame myself for not reading reviews first, but I also blame the seller for misleading advertising.

This remote works (under Windows 7) -- I can successfully move the cursor on the screen, click the mouse, and use pause and fast forward in windows media center. I can NOT fast forward etc. when watching Netflix within Google Chrome however.

The only real problem with this device is the documentation - it comes with one small sheet of instructions in a sort of English - well - to be frank it is a total joke. The English is beyond stilted - it seems almost as if someone translated it with disdain for the buyer. It is incomprehensible. Which is a shame because there are a bunch of keys on the remote that are supposed to operate all sorts of stuff and be programmable in some cases but I certainly will never be able to make use of them because of the terrible instructions.

So yes, you get what you pay for.

This just presents itself as a USB keyboard and mouse.

While this does make it function, i was intending to use this as a cheap receiver for my actual MCE remote.

PLEASE retitle this product, amazon!

Only reason it gets 2 stars is because it actually does function.

This is not a real MCE remote. It sends only key presses. While this is not really that big of an issue, it is still rather annoying to try to deal with certain aspects. If you intend to use this exclusively as a PC remote this might be ok but I found it lacking for use as a media center. The unit I got was also slow to respond. Fortunately, the seller, HDE was very fast to respond to the issue and help out.

Works well but the mouse is a bit tricky to control. Biggest complaint is I cannot use this remote and my Microsoft wireless keyboard 6000 together. Windows XP doesn't like having 2 USB "keyboard" interfaces. For the price though I can't complain and it does do what I wanted for the most part.

Look!

It is ten bucks (!!) toy and it is doing the job that others want $60 for! simply plug receiver into your PC and lay on the coach... Controls Windows media player, PowerDVD and DivX, you even can manipulate with your PC (some training necessary to handle cursor though). Strongly recommend - Xbmc - Windows - 880 - Home Theater Pc'
