Speaker Cables - speaker cable, home theater

Finally an affordable speaker wire that does not boast outrageous claims of being something that it isn't. This 16 AWG 2-conductor stranded copper speaker wire by Mediabridge is perfect for everyday speaker runs. The length of run should be determined by the impedance or Ohms of the speaker. After reading through a few expert opinions, I have discovered that as a rule of thumb these are the maximum lengths of cable that should be used when using 16 AWG wire. The lengths are broken down by ohm load of the speaker:

2 ohm speaker - 12ft max

4 ohm speaker - 24ft max

6 ohm speaker - 36ft max

8 ohm speaker (most common) - 48ft max

Most household speakers are 8 ohms so this speaker wire will typically perform best at runs under about 50ft, which for most households is plenty long enough! And since it is a 100ft spool you get at least two long speaker runs if not more shorter runs. It is stranded copper as opposed to silver or gold advertised by some of the big names out there but that is hardly a strike against it. Silver is just more expensive with no real audio benefit. Same for Gold, only gold doesn't oxidize so I guess if you were installing this wire at a marina or somewhere there is a high amount of humidity, then you would probably need to use a wire with gold flashing to prevent oxidation. Otherwise, you're paying A LOT more for no audible benefit.

The fact is, 16 gauge stranded copper speaker wire is just 16 gauge stranded copper speaker wire. Despite what the fanatical audiophiles say about capacitance and inductance affecting the open flowing sound and rich rounded notes blah blah blah, these claims are all in the impressionable mind of the listener and are not scientifically based on anything but a marketing committee's monday meeting.

This wire does the trick perfectly at a fraction of the price of just about anything else on the market. Pretty much a no brainer. Just buy it! Mediabridge - 16 Gauge Speaker Wire [w/ Sequential Foot Markings] - (100 Feet)

This speaker wire is very nice. The copper conductor is thick and the shielding is just the right thickness. The wire is very flexible and easy to work with. Features a blue line on one side so you can tell the conductors apart. Great value for money and would easily compare to much more expensive wire. I've seen more expensive wire with less copper and more shielding... this stuff is a good balance, a very true 16 gauge. I highly recommend this product.

Plastic casing around the wire is nice and thick. Solid enough to protect the wire well, but malleable enough that the wire is not so stiff that it's hard to work with.

There is a very thin, subtle pinstripe down one side of the wires to help distinguish your left from right side.

Preparing wire for use was easy and casing came off without accidentally pulling out any of the copper strands.

I have a set of MartinLogan Motion 10 floor standing speakers and a 10 inch JBL sub all hooked up with this wire and it sounds awesome!

Standard 16GA stranded speaker wire at a good price. Marked with a blue line on one wire so you can keep your blacks and reds going to the same place, if that matters to you.

Goes from and Onkyo TRN609 to Energy RC-Micro speakers, if that matters to anyone. Couldn't tell the difference between this wire and 14GA "Higher Quality" (more expensive) wire that I had temporarily used before this came.

Bought this wire to supplement for easy car audio installs. I am a Knukonceptz guy and is the first wire besides them I have bought. It is between 8.5-9.0 on 10 scale. It will do and have no problem using. I have bought Mediabridge cables (ie. hdmi & rca) They have always worked good and had no problems. I decided to try their wire and am comfortable with purchase!! Don't feel reluctance in buying. Monster and some of the others are entirely over rated and over priced. All those "audiophile" couldn't hear the difference!!! Arrogance comes in different packages.

Came as described, and well, does exactly what it's supposed to. Why waste you're money??? They sound great with my surround sound speakers and reference speakers. Really good value and highly recommend.

for the price paid, quality is commensurate overall with my needs. Am not thrilled about the lack of flexibility in the outside plastic envelope/external layer, but overall, the cable is maneuverable. since I don't expect a very hi-end sonic type conduction, this price-efficient "quality" will do

Used this to hook up my surround system consisting of onkyo 607 receiver and polk audio speakers. Great quality speaker wire leading to a great sound. Easy to cut and hook up, I highly suggest picking this up for your home audio needs. - Speaker Cable - Audio Cable - Audio Cables - Home Theater'
