Wireless Speakers - ooh, sound blaster

I purchased this along with the X-FI notebook card. Wireless freedom is a luxury that I thoroughly enjoy. The ability to hear audio from my laptop on high quality speakers wirelessly makes it a much more satisfying experience. I can move to the couch without having to sit at my desk to watch a movie with great sound. Creative Labs Sound Blaster Wireless Audio Receiver

I was looking for an easy way to play music from my laptop on my stereo without the wires & I found it. I previously used a high end cable to connect to my stereo and cant tell the difference with these in use in the same or adjacent rooms. I have these receivers on two of my stereos now and the work great! Music will distort if you are sending a signal through brick or several walls. Still, it is a great product & the x-fi card for the laptop is an improvement over the onboard chip. I would highly recommend this system for anyone looking to loose a few wires.

I could not get this unit to link to my SB0830 transmitter. Suggestions from the manufacturer were also not helpful. I returned the item. I have two Creative model SB0840 receivers and they work great!

like the previous reviewer i bought this together with the x-fi card, from creative's site that fulfills with amazon actually--was like $60 off or something close.

works like a charm and substantially easier than other options.

I have a X-Fi Extreme Fidelity transmitter (Model SB0830) and was looking for a second receiver. There were conflicting statements in the product reviews on Amazon that this receiver would work with it, but I decided to give it a shot. Sadly, I was proven wrong and found that this reciever did not work with my transmitter.

The story does have a happy ending when a week or so ago I saw the X-Fi Extreme Fidelity transmitter/receiver combo listed on Amazon for only $44 and the second receiver works great with my existing transmitter.

We own a dance studio and host a party every Friday and Saturday night. I play from my laptop and had an SB Xi-Fi Express card that I plugged straight into the mixer. My laptop is a touchscreen and very portable so I did not like being tethered to the sound system. I found out about this device and decided to try it. I figured that since it was the same brand, everything should work together. That was correct. I connected everything up and synced the wireless receiver with the Xi-Fi card. Worked like a champ first time and every time. I do not even have to re-sync them each time I set up, they connect automatically. The range is quite good -- I can get over 100 feet but in the dance studio, remember there are no walls or obstructions in that distance. There is no sound or quality drop off in that range and I can distinguish no difference in sound between the wireless receiver and direct hard wire. Now I can carry the laptop around the room during our parties and do requests, etc. My only regret is that I did not know about this thing until now. Amazon had the best price and it arrived earlier than expected. I would have preferred something cheaper, but mow I would still choose this first even if more expensive. Creative would be well advised to package this along with the Xi-Fi card, I would predict that would sell well. I do not use the remote and its features -- first of all my working distance is beyond the effective range of the remote and second, the software jukebox we use is specifically written for dance studios and does not incorporate the remote's features.

A couple of other notes about the wireless receiver, it is about the size of a deck of cards or a big bar of soap and weighs about the same. There is no external antenna. The write ups are not clear on this -- in back the connections are: 1) RCA jacks for R & L output (red & white) 2) 1/8" stereo jack output and 3) power in -- 9v DC I think and no option to insert batteries, you must use an AC cord with 9v DC transformer (included in box).

If you have an Xi-Fi card, you will be pleased with this purchase, it makes the Xi-Fi card much more functional.

Sound is great, installation is easy. every once in a while I have to reset the product to get it to work but that is not an issue for the quality it provides.

** Update ** After a couple of months this PCMCIA card died on me and would have to buy the entire kit to replace it.

This is not Bluetooth! I guess I should have looked closer at the description, but nowadays wireless means bluetooth to me. Anyway, be aware that this is some goofy S.B. Creative Labs wireless device, and not BT.

As I buy products for use later in life, I buy them when I can afford them at fantastic savings. I will not be using this item until after I can upgrade my Sony VAIO laptop to Windows 7 OS from the Vista version it was shipped with and I bought during the back-to-school tax free sales this year and yet to even turn on. Any way, as with the many Creative Labs products I have, I expect the same high quality from this unit as I have had with all prior purchases. - Ooh - Wireless Music - Sound Blaster - Wireless Speakers'
